“Onwards, Digital Generation!” Nominations for “Tolerance Online” in Google. Russia’s web-project competition

The results were announced on the 22nd April of the first round of a Russian-wide youth Internet project competition, organised by the company Google Rossiya. The jury featured the director of the Jewish Museum’s Tolerance Centre, Anna Makarchuk. As part of the competition, the Tolerance Centre held its own nomination process for “Tolerance Online.” Victory went to the project “Mayyou” – a social network for people with disabilities. The author of the concept, Dmitry Khizhnyakov, was marked out for praise by the Moscow State Educational University and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre. In Anna’s words, this is “a project that actually works, and which is already achieving its objectives, including the drawing of attention to important social issues.” The competition was open to Russian youths aged from 14 to 18, inviting them to submit their most interesting, useful, socially significant and original Internet-projects.
