Festival of Peoples of the World in Moscow’s Eastern Administrative District

On the 24th of April, the Eastern Administrative District hosted the third regional Festival of Art of the Peoples of the Word, put on by a special committee of Izmailovo Region under the title “Countries which have hosted the Winter Olympics.”  The festival showcased the high level of preparation behind the televised presentations of the teams taking part, their enthusiasm for the organisation of this major multi-ethnic celebration, which featured songs, dances, stories and legends from the traditions of all countries represented.  The teams also prepared the most varied dishes from their national cuisine for the closing part of the event, at which all participants were given the chance to sample the foods on offer.

Svetlana Orlenko, head trainer at the Tolerance Centre, acted as the president of the Festival’s competition jury.

As a prize, the Tolerance Centre presented all participants with an original calendar entitled “2014 – the Year of Kindness and Tolerance,” composed of works produced by the designers of socially-themed posters for the exhibition “Let those different from you be different,” and marking the dates special to various different cultures and religions, as well as those connected with the theme of tolerance worldwide.
