The opening of the “I am a World Citizen” photo exhibition - part of the Museum’s new “Projection of Tolerance” project

The 19th of June saw the lobby of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre host the opening of the photographic exhibition “I am a World Citizen” (in a joint measure with the FOCUS-MEDIA foundation).

“World Citizen” or “MasterPeace” is an international project.  Its creation was the brainchild of Ilco van der Linde. The project was conceived in 2008, when an armed political conflict in Kenya was diffused with the help of a unified front of the mass media, civil society and creative people (artists and musicians). The project is flourishing in many countries around the world, including in Russia.

The exhibition gathered together famous names from the arts world, of a great variety of different professions, confessions, cultures and ethnicities, all under one banner – that of peace. They believe that bread is more important than weapons. For them, dialogue is always an alternative to condemnation. They prefer to create rather than destroy. They listen to music, something superior to  any military conflict.

The exhibition “I am a World Citizen” is the opening event for a whole series of projects constituting “The Projection of Tolerance.” As part of this wider project, the Jewish Museum’s Tolerance Centre are holding several photo and video exhibitions in the Museum’s lobby, in projection format.

The exhibition will remain open until the 3rd of June. Entrance is free of charge.
