The Ministry of Education and Science and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center Signed the Collaboration Agreement

The Ministry of Education and Science and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center Signed the Collaboration Agreement April 1, 2015 the Collaboration Agreement was signed by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow. Natalya Tretyak, the First Deputy Minister, signed the Agreement on behalf of the RF Ministry of Education and Science. Alexander Boroda, the President of the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia, signed the Agreement on behalf of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center.

«The questions of tolerance development among trainees are the key ones in the Russian educational system,» – Natalya Tretyak said. She pointed out that the national educational policy of the Russian Federation is built, among other things, on the basis of tolerance, cultural dialogue and respect of the multinational, multicultural and multi-religious Russian society.

«Signing of this agreement is surely a milestone event for the development of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. The Museum was created not only to tell about the traditions and history of the Jews but also as a center contributing to the establishment of tolerance principles and helping to instill universal human values in the younger generation as well. Therefore, the integration of efforts with the Ministry of Education and Science in this matter is extremely important for us. We will consider our task fulfilled if we manage to make our contribution to this important process of upholding such children’s values as tolerance to other nations, respect to other cultures and understanding of the importance of multi-religious society consolidation,» – Alexander Boroda made his comment.

The Agreement foresees joint organization of events, programs and projects, advising, holding of working meetings and roundtable discussions. Moreover, interactive educational and training programs for teachers in the sphere of tolerance teaching will be developed. The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia will support the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in such questions as maintenance of social heritage of nations of Russia, propagation of the ideas of value and equality of national cultures, promotion of training programs in the sphere of tolerance among teaching staff. Additionally, the Agreement makes provision for the methodological support of the tolerance upholding programs at the Russian Federation schools within the framework of networking cooperation. Collaborative work will be held to implement interactive methods of social activism and civic patriotism building for the elementary, core and secondary education as well.
