Reuven Rivlin, the President of the State of Israel, visited the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center
March 17 2016, during his official visit to Moscow Reuven Rivlin, the President of the State of Israel, visited the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. Alexander Moiseevich Boroda, the Museum Director General and the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, showed Reuven Rivlin the permanent exposition of the Museum dedicated to the history and culture of the Jews in Russia starting fr om the times of Catherine the Great to the present days and the unique collection of books of the Schneerson Library.
‘I think that the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center is the place wh ere the history of Israel is living and it is told to different generations and nationalities in the modern language. I am happy to see that the Museum realizes common projects with Israel and, in particular, with Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority.’
Mr. Reuven Rivlin, the President of the State of Israel
‘We are happy that during his visit to Moscow Reuven Rivlin, the President of the State of Israel, visited the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. He highly appreciated the Museum, its high technology approach and innovativeness and, of course, the contribution the Jewish Museum makes to popularize the Jewish culture in Russia and all over the world. It is worth noting that today the relations between Russian and Israel are developing dynamically in trading and economic environments as well as cultural and education spheres. In the process of development of our Museum we have been collaborating for a long time with Israeli funds, universities and non-commercial organizations including Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority. This collaboration is highly important for the Museum, and I hope that after the visit of the President of the State of Israel and his high opinion about our work we will manage to involve more Israeli educational and cultural institutions and to carry out common projects with them.’
A.M. Boroda, the Museum Director General and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia
This year is the anniversary year for the diplomatic relationships of Russian and Israel – 25 years ago the bilateral relations between Moscow and Jerusalem were renewed after their interruption as a result of the Six-Day War.
