Candle Lighting Ceremony on the Holocaust Remembrance

On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 70th anniversary from the release date of Oswiecim concentration camp prisoners by the Soviet Army we honored the memory of victims of the Catastrophe.

Veterans-liberators, prisoners, Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation President, representatives of the Russian government institutions, international organizations, and diplomatic missions, Berl Lazar, the chief rabbi of Russia, and Alexander Boroda, the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, participated in the candle lighting ceremony.

The President visited the exhibitions of the Human and Catastrophe project dedicated to the mass elimination of the concentration camps prisoners by the Nazi and made a speech:

“Today, on this tragic day, we pay a tribute to the memory of all who were tortured by the Nazi and their supporters in concentration camps and ghettos, we mourn for millions of perished in the fire of the most murderous war in the history of the humanity. We remember and honor the courage of those who survived horrors of occupation, violence, humiliation of compulsory works, those who managed to stand that inhuman trial and were not broken down.”
