Aims:
- bringing up to date the participants' notions on cultural heritage;
- assisting the formation of a positive ethnic identity.
Target group: youths from 15-20 years of age
Duration: 3 hours
Short description:
A positive ethnic identity is the necessary condition for the formation of an individual's tolerant world view. Only once the values of his own cultural heritage are understood and accepted can a person relate with respect to the culture of other people. A series of individual and group lessons, discussions, self-diagnostic elements and games allows participants to reflect on their people, its values and traditions, understanding and accepting their ethnic identity.
Content and basic concepts: Social and ethnic identity. Forms of ethnic identity. The cognitive and emotive components of ethnic identity. The development and transformation of ethnic identity. The influence of social context on the formation of ethnic identity. Strategies supporting ethnic identity.
