In modern Russia, there are many Jewish organizations, both religious and secular. For the most part, it is precisely these organizations that serve as the centers of Jewish communal life in the city. The history of their formation and their subsequent coexistence has been fraught with numerous difficulties. The author considers it important to examine the process of institutionalizing Jewish public life in Russia from the late 20th to the early 21st century using materials from Krasnodar.
The study analyzed ethnographic field data, journalistic materials, and archival documents from Jewish organizations in Russia held in private collections. This provided a picture of the development and current state of Jewish life in one region of southern Russia.
