Fellowship competition for museum employees and young researchers – 2026
The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center (Moscow) announces an open fellowship competition for researchers in the field of the history and culture of Jews in Russia and the field of memorial culture.
Fellowship conditions:
• The stipend amount is 150 thousand rubles (approx. $1800) for the whole period of fellowship;
• Paid transfer to Moscow and back to the city of residence;
• Fellowship could last from three to four weeks (an applicant decides);
• Fellowship takes place at the core exhibition of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center and its collection storage;
• The Fellowships shall take place between May 15, 2026 and July 15, 2026, or between October 05, 2026 and November 30, 2026.
Participants:
• Employees of Russian or foreign museums;
• Young researchers between 20 and 40 (undergraduates, doctoral students, fellows at research institutions, and independent researchers).
Fields of participants’ research:
• History and culture of Jews in Russia (Russian Empire, the USSR, modern Russia);
• Memorial culture.
Note:
All applicants must belong to one of the categories of participants while conducting professional and research activities in these areas.
Applications can be submitted via online form on the museum's website by March 15, 2026.
We announce results on March 25, 2026.
Expected fellowship results:
• A report on the research conducted at the Museum within a month after completing the fellowship;
• A research proposal or an exhibition/educational project proposal based on the research conducted at the Museum.
Criteria for the selection of the applications:
• compliance of the application with the established competition objectives;
• relevance of the application;
• motivation of the participant.
