In his book journalist and writer Matti Friedman recreates his experience of a young Israeli soldier in Lebanon.

In his book journalist and writer Matti Friedman recreates his experience of a young Israeli soldier in Lebanon, who had witnessed the emergence of a new type of military conflict of the 21st century, where there is no clear winner and photos in the media are sometimes more important than the battles themselves.

Matti Friedman is a journalist and writer. From 2006 to 2011, he worked as a correspondent for the Associated Press in Jerusalem, as well as in Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Moscow and Washington. He is the author of two award-winning investigative journalism books: ‘The Aleppo Codex: In Pursuit of One of the World’s Most Coveted, Sacred, and Mysterious Books’ (2012) and ‘Pumpkin Flowers: an Israeli Soldier’s Story’ (2016).

The lecture is supported by the ‘Eshkolot’ project.
