The Programme consists of four modules. The first three modules are interactive in teaching format, involving participants studying the bases of volunteer work, analysng and investigating the nature of targeted groups, finding solutions to the difficulties commonly encountered by volunteers. The fourth module takes the form of a practice session on holding themed events with children.
Training session themes:
Module 1 A study seminar for leaders of volunteer organisations and associations.
Module 2 The aims and values of volunteering.
Module 3 Children as the main target group of volunteering work.
Module 4 Volunteering practice.
The target group for the first module is that of leaders of student volunteer organisations and associations, the active volunteering body.
The training in the following three modules is for those immediately involved in volunteering and having experience of volunteering work, as well as novices.
Within the framework of the Programme, participants will gain a “solutions bank” allowing them to resolve difficult situations, and become acquainted with the main methods and techniques involved in working with the target groups, studying the characteristics and needs of children as one of the main target groups for voluntary work, getting to grips with the interactive techniques for children work elaborated by the Tolerance Centre.
- Strengthening the social responsibility and active civil position of students.
- Reinforcing and developing the student volunteer movement as an institution of positive youth leadership in the student midst.
- Strengthening the systems for reinforcement and relaying of the values of tolerance among the student body and youth in general.
- Increasing the sense of engagement of students in socially beneficial public activity.
Duration of Session for Module 1: 3 hours.
Duration of Sessions for Modules 2-3: 2 hours.
Duration of the Practice Session: 1.5 hours.

Classes in the program
The 2nd module is focused on discovering the basic difficulties in determining areas of lack of knowledge and skills that volunteers encounter in their work, as well as means for their resolution. This is conducted in the format of a research laboratory. Each session is concluded with a training module designed to rally the volunteer team, to reflect the fact that team spirit and the skills of working together are a vital resource in the work of the volunteer.
The 3rd module is focused on work with on of the main target groups for volunteers – children. The participants are introduced with the basic psychological peculiarities of the child age-group, the needs of children from children's homes, foster homes, as well as those in nurseries and pupils in the earliest years of school. The main part of the session is conducted in the format of a games workshop, during which the participants study the carrying out of one of the techniques of volunteer work with children – the “World Game.”
