Russian libraries and museums preserve numerous uncataloged Jewish books and manuscripts. Joint project of the Schneerson library and the Russian State Library for Foreign Literature launched in March 2014, aims at recovering and cataloguing such materials and making them known to scholars.
This work includes research of collections’ provenance, cataloguing and exhibiting books and other materials, organizing scholarly seminars and conferences.
The first phase of the project includes making the database of the libraries, museums and archives preserving uncataloged Jewish books and manuscripts in Russian Federation starting from repositories of Moscow.
