Since November 2013, the Schneerson collection staff together with Federal Archival Agency (Rosarchiv), Russian State Military Archive and Research Center of the Jewish Museum carries out a joint project on cataloguing of the Sixth Lubavitscher Rebbe’s private archive preserved at the Russian State Military Archives.
R. Yosef Yitzhak’s archive was long inaccessible due to social upheavals and wars of the twentieth century. From 1915-2015, it changed many hands: from Soviet Russia to independent Poland, to Nazi Germany and back to Soviet Russia. It ended up in the Central State Archive of the Red Army (presently, Russian State Military Archive). Now these documents are being catalogued and processed for on-line publication.
